As Hong Kong’s social calendar reaches its most dazzling apex with the Tatler Ball 2024, all eyes turn to the red carpet. This year, the magic is magnified as Chopard takes centre stage, adorning three of the city’s most stylish women—Elly Lam, Feiping Chang and Alison Chan El-Azar—with pieces from its High Jewellery Collection.
Inspired by fairy tales, Chopard’s Red Carpet collection in 2024, Contes de Fées, is a masterclass in haute joaillerie, a reflection of creativity and craftsmanship that is set to transform the Tatler Ball into an evening of wonderment. The collection debuted earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival, of which Chopard has been a partner since 1998, enchanting audiences with its blend of whimsical elegance and timeless opulence. From bejewelled butterflies and delicate fairies to intricate woodland creatures and enchanted flowers, each piece in the Contes de Fées collection seems to come alive, telling a story of fantasy. For this year’s ball, Lam, Chang and Chan El-Azar will each bring to life their own fairy tales in these exclusive creations that are designed to captivate onlookers.

Chopard’s commitment to haute couture extends beyond jewellery. Caroline Scheufele, the company’s co-president and artistic director, has expanded her creative vision to include couture, with a collection debuting alongside the Red Carpet jewellery at Cannes.
These designs are as imaginative as the jewels themselves. Think taffeta gowns adorned with floral motifs that seem to grow like shadows or iridescent fabrics that transform their wearers into ethereal creatures from a far-off land. She explains, “I wanted to take on a new challenge: moving beyond my comfort zone; extending the world of Chopard to couture; developing fabrics with colours reflecting those of the precious stones in our jewellery; working with artisans as talented as our jewellers; and envisioning dresses and models perfectly consistent with my haute joaillerie collections.”

Together, these elements create a visual feast, a reminder that fashion and jewellery, when intertwined, have the power to transport us to another world. Chopard’s influence at this year’s Tatler Ball is sure to enchant everyone who walks through the doors, weaving a fairy tale that will be remembered long after the night is over.

In a world where red carpet moments are fleeting, Chopard’s creations remain timeless—ensuring that the Tatler Ball 2024 will not only be a celebration of luxury but also a tribute to the enduring magic of haute couture and jewellery. As Lam, Chang and Chan El-Azar step into the spotlight, one thing is certain: fairy tales are very much alive.
