This Happy Valley dwelling for a family of four is a tasteful balance between plain wood and leather.

Located in Happy Valley, this 2,000 square foot apartment was designed with a family of four in mind. Brought to life by Facade Interior Design, its relaxed luxury design blends comfort with opulence. A sophisticated tone is immediately established by the home's grand entrance, which beckons you in with a sleek marble floor.

Thoughtful details have been woven throughout the home. Hidden wall cabinets provide ample storage without sacrificing style, while soft circular door handles add a touch of warmth and charm to the space. The incorporation of cutting-edge smart home technology adds a surprising element of sophistication, as exemplified by the sleek matte glass panel at the entrance that also functions as a smart home feature.

The concept of balance was meticulously executed in the creation of this home. Brian Chan, the visionary behind Facade Interior Design, carefully curated each element with the client to ensure a cohesive vibe.

He notes: "I'm really happy with the ratio of gold, wood, and leather textures in this house. Every detail is finely tuned, nothing strays into excess."

Because the homeowner is allergic to volatile organic compounds, which are chemicals commonly found in many types of furniture, all furnishings were chosen carefully and made only of plain wood or leather. This decision guaranteed a safe haven free from any potential allergy triggers.

In the living room, a sleek wall featuring marble and sophisticated gold accents sets the scene behind the television. The dining area continues this luxurious theme with another marble backdrop.

“It took us a long time to find the perfect marble that fitted the style we wanted and matched the colour scheme of the house,” Chan says.

A key highlight of the home's design – and the primary reason behind its renovation – was the creation of separate spaces for a traditional Chinese kitchen and a contemporary Western-style kitchen. This deliberate arrangement not only enhances flexibility in meal preparation, but also caters to a diverse range of culinary preferences.

Another crucial aspect of the project was the intricate design of the ceilings. The Facade team meticulously integrated various textures and details to visually distinguish different areas within the home. For example, the dining space features a circular ceiling that complements the dining table.

In the modern Western kitchen, a bright and simple white marble counter adds a touch of elegance. Additionally, the use of steel doors effectively separates the main kitchen from the Western kitchen, contributing to a sleek and contemporary aesthetic.

An important aspect the homeowners emphasised was their wish for a designated space to house a Guan Yin statue, paying tribute to the compassionate and protective Buddhist deity. Establishing this area presented a challenge because of cultural protocols dictating the correct positioning of the statue. Ultimately, the statue found its place in the guest bedroom

Another marble feature is found in the guest bedroom, where the marble table has been expanded into the nearby wardrobe. This blending of the table into the wardrobe adds a sense of space and elegance to the room. Moreover, the marble surface reflects the soft lighting, adding a subtle extra touch of luxury.

The master bedroom is both spacious and practical, exuding luxury and sophistication. The island make-up table and accessories cabinet, paired with the oval mirror in the dressing area, enhance the homeowner's daily styling routine with added convenience. Opulent leather accents adorn the bedhead, wardrobe and overall design, creating a stylish, cohesive, and upscale ambiance in the room.

The children's rooms offer cosy and inviting areas for relaxation and play. Facade redesigned the two rooms to be the same size. The older child's room features a sophisticated design, while the younger child's room is filled with playful elements to encourage creativity and fun.
