LONDON, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The St Louis Cardinals beat the Chicago Cubs 7-5 here on Sunday, levelling the London Series 1-1 as Major League Baseball (MLB) returned to London this weekend for the first time in four years.
MLB regular season games were held in Europe for the first time when the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees played two games in London in 2019.
Four years later, the home ground of Premier League side West Ham United has been transformed into a ballpark, with more than 110,000 fans cheering on the Cardinals and the Cubs over two days at the London Stadium.
The Cubs, who dominated Saturday's game with a 9-1 victory, took a 4-0 lead after the first inning on Sunday.
But the Cardinals fought back to lead 7-4 after the fifth inning, while the Cubs only managed to pull one point back in the final inning.
London is also set to stage MLB regular season games in 2024 and 2026. ■
