InPics: A Cuban ophthalmologist's life in northwest China's Ningxia

YINCHUAN, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Cuban ophthalmologist Isidro Castaneda Silva came to Yinchuan of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in 2023. Since he graduated from a medical college in Santiago of Cuba with a doctor's degree more than three decades ago, Isidro has gained rich clinical experience in treating common eye diseases and fundi diseases.
Besides working at the Aier Eye Hospital in Yinchuan, Isidro often provides free clinic service for local people at various communities as well.

Isidro has made many Chinese friends and he could even communicate with his patients with simple Chinese words now. A lover of Ningxia wheat food, Isidro has already learned to eat noodles with chopsticks.
This summer Isidro visited the Shapotou scenic spot in Zhongwei and vineyards in the foothills of Helan Mountain with his friends. In his eyes, China is a beautiful country with profound cultural legacy. He takes China as his second hometown.
