China to face Indonesia in Uber Cup quarterfinals

China's women's badminton team will play Indonesia in the Uber Cup quarterfinals

BANGKOK, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Defending champions China are set to face Indonesia in the Uber Cup quarterfinals, according to the draw made here after the group matches on Wednesday.

China achieved a perfect record in all three group matches to become group winners alongside Japan, South Korea and host nation Thailand. Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, India and Denmark also made it to the last eight as group runners-up.

Indonesia were defeated by Japan 4-1 in their last group match on Wednesday. 18-year-old Bilqis Prasista, who ranked only 333, stunned world No. 1 Akane Yamaguchi 21-19, 21-19 to win the only match for Indonesia.

In the other three quarterfinals, Japan will play Chinese Taipei, South Korea are to meet Denmark, and India will face Thailand. ■
