Nested in the highly coveted Mid-Levels West neighbourhood of Hong Kong's Altamira enclave, a popular spot for celebrities and bankers, this gorgeous home boasts breathtaking panoramic views of Victoria Peak and the verdant greenery that surrounds it. With an unparalleled combination of elegance and charm, this stunning abode is a true masterpiece of design and craftsmanship.
Common Room Home and Living founder, MJ, is a renowned designer who has the exceptional ability to create breathtaking living spaces. In this home, she seamlessly bridges the gap between indoors and outdoors by incorporating flourishing greenery outside the windows. This design not only elevates the focus from simply home decoration to creating a harmonious union between the two environments. The tranquil views can be enjoyed from every corner of the home, offering moments of pure relaxation.
The 2,300 sq. ft. living space retains its original rectangular partitions, as well as square rooms and halls. However, the rectangular hall poses a challenge when it comes to creating innovative designs. MJ stated, "We introduced diverse design elements in order to establish rich visual layers in the square spaces. Our aim is to create a cosy, comforting and familial ambiance in the living room. Thus, when determining the furniture placement, we carefully consider how it interacts with the overall space."
The centrepiece of the hall is the stove wall, adorned with rock slabs from Italian company LAMINAM exhibiting natural textures. Display cabinets are integrated with the two stoves, obscuring the entrance to the study. This arrangement blends the stove, display cabinets and study door seamlessly, creating a harmonious visual impact.
Inside the study room, you can see MJ's cleverly designed geometric shaped bookshelves. Its appearance is different from traditional bookshelves, but it still has practical functions and is full of style.
The terrace and living room are seamlessly connected, with the L-shaped sofa and armchairs facing the lush green mountains outside. "People can comfortably sit on the sofa, armchair or even on the carpet to appreciate the outdoor view,” said MJ. Moreover, in the dining room, the round dining table is positioned against the wall to enable one to enjoy the natural scenery while having their meal.
The master bedroom is a sight to behold with a centrally placed bed adorned with modern French floral designs on the bedside wall. MJ pointed out: "The master bedroom boasts views of the beautiful outdoors, so I intentionally placed a comfortable recliner by the window for people to cosy up with a book or simply soak in the splendour of the mountain view." The master bathroom is designed to maximise the natural beauty outside with large floor-to-ceiling windows that offer an immersive experience. A natural stone-inspired washbasin table adds to the earthy feel, and the bathtub is strategically placed to offer a panoramic view of the majestic mountains outside. Taking a bath here is like being one with nature.
The guest room boasts custom-made wall coverings that have been integrated into the headboard design to create a visually enriched look with floral lines. The colour scheme is slightly deeper than that of the hall but still maintains a cohesive style. The room also features a cloakroom, bathroom and a dressing table placed against the wall that doubles as a mirror when turned up.
