Since its inception in 2004, the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony collection has been an important expression of minimalist elegance, drawing inspiration from the maison’s 1950s creations. “Over the course of the last century, our maison has distinguished itself on numerous occasions in this respect and this quest for slenderness has become a Vacheron Constantin signature. Among the most telling examples is a 1931 pocket watch with a manualwinding movement measuring just 0.94 mm thick,” says Christian Selmoni, heritage and style director, Vacheron Constantin. “The Patrimony collection itself is directly inspired by the ultra-thin and elegant watches of the 1950s. Developed to equip a 1955 watch marking the company’s 200th anniversary, calibre 1003 was in the same vein,” he adds.

The new Patrimony manual winding models add a fresh perspective to the classic design as we look at the latest offerings. Featuring a refined 39mm case crafted in either white or pink gold, these timepieces are designed to appeal to a broad audience, including those who appreciate an understated, unisex aesthetic. The reduction in size from the previous 40mm models enhances wearability.

The dial showcases an antique silver-toned sunburst finish that evokes a sense of nostalgia while remaining resolutely modern. This new shade subtly contrasts the pink gold accents, including the slim hands and hour markers, which are crafted from 18-karat gold. The circular minutes track, composed of 48 polished gold pearls, adds an interesting detail.

Moreover, fresh strap colours—azure blue and olive green—and a closed caseback are thoughtful additions. They offer owners the opportunity to engrave a personal message and make each piece a unique reflection of its wearer.

In addition to the manual winding models, the Patrimony Moonphase Retrograde Date introduces a level of complexity that enhances the collection’s appeal. With a 42.5mm white gold case, this model features a moonphase that requires correction only once every 122 years, alongside a retrograde date display—both are integrated into the old-silver-toned dial. The craftsmanship is evident through the sapphire crystal caseback, which reveals the intricate in-house calibre 2460 R31L, adorned with a Maltese cross.

Over the past two decades, Vacheron Constantin’s Patrimony collection has evolved while remaining true to its roots, capturing the spirit of modernity that defined the 1950s. “One of the strengths of the Patrimony is that it is both timeless and firmly rooted in its era,” says Selmoni.
