Dubai-based logistics startup Trukkin is expanding to Pakistan with the launch of its trucking marketplace in the country’s largest city Karachi. Trukkin’s online platform connects shippers and truckers to help them with their logistics needs, particularly heavy cargo or long-haul trucking. The vehicle types it offers through its platform include trailers, pickup trucks, flatbed trucks, and box trailers.

Founded in the United Arab Emirates by Janardan Dalmia, Trukkin has been operating across the Middle East and North Africa since 2017. In a statement sent to MENAbytes, the company said that its online platform solves inherent problems of different stakeholders in the transportation industry, including shippers, transporters, brokers, and truck drivers. “Trukkin simplifies payments, standardizes documentation and waybills, and helps in increased profits for everyone involved.”

Its platform enables shippers to receive instant quotes by submitting their load details on Trukkin’s website or mobile apps. The shippers can also track their shipments in real-time through the app or updates via SMS and email. They also receive confirmation and proof of delivery through email.

Trukkin is starting with Karachi, but has plans to expand across Pakistan, including Lahore, its second-largest city. For now, the company is offering different types of vehicle options to shippers for transportation within Karachi and all over Pakistan (from Karachi). At the time of writing, its website doesn’t list any Pakistani city in the Get A Quote and Transporter Register sections, which suggests that the startup is conducting its operations manually for now. The website, however, does list a contact number for its Pakistan office.

The statement by Trukkin noted that Pakistan’s transportation industry has been growing at a CAGR of over 18% since 2017 and is valued at over USD 35 billion. Citing information from the World Bank, Trukkin’s statement noted that inefficiencies in Pakistan’s generally unorganized transportation and logistics sector costs its economy nearly PKR 500 billion (about USD 3 billion) every year.

Trukkin aims to bring some order to the logistics and transportation sector with its tech platform. Lorryz, a similar UAE-based trucking marketplace, has also been operating in Pakistan since last year.

Janardan Dalmia, founder and CEO of Trukkin, said, “Today’s launch of Trukkin in Pakistan is the beginning of a new movement that will completely revolutionize the way the transportation industry functions. At Trukkin, we aim to empower everyone involved in the transportation business—from truck drivers to brokers, shippers, and transportation fleet owners—using cutting-edge technology to replace archaic systems that are prone to human error and fraud. This will help in reducing transportation timelines and associated costs, while increasing profits for everyone involved.”

The UAE startup raised USD 3.5 million in a Series A round in 2019.
