Chinachem, in collaboration with the Urban Renewal Authority, has revealed the latest details of their residential redevelopment project, Echo House, located on Tonkin Street in Cheung Sha Wan. The project’s sales brochure will be available online by Friday. The development currently has two show flats, which are expected to open for public viewing later this week. The project has already received around 1,000 inquiries, with about 10% coming from mainland Chinese buyers.
Echo House consists of a 22-story building offering 198 units, with layouts ranging from one to three bedrooms and saleable areas between 312 and 594 square feet. The development primarily focuses on one-bedroom units, which make up 132 of the available units. All units feature bathrooms with windows, ensuring optimal natural ventilation. Additionally, each standard unit includes a 38-square-foot, multi-functional balcony, and about 80% of the kitchens also have windows for natural light.
Echo House is Hong Kong’s first private residential project built using the Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) method, which allows for faster and more efficient construction. The development also includes a three-story commercial podium. Chinachem acquired the development rights from the Urban Renewal Authority in April 2020 for HK$912.8 million. Based on the total buildable floor area of about 104,100 square feet, the site value came to around HK$8,743 per square foot.
