Embark on a creative journey of design luminary Alan Chan at his exhibition at Phillips’ Asia headquarters in West Kowloon, running from now until 27 August.
Dubbed the “Alan Chan: Collecting Inspiration for Design”, the exhibition is an extension of Chan’s recent Rizzoli publication, showcasing over 800 objects and cross-disciplinary work from his 50-year career across advertising, graphic and spatial design, and visual art.
Spanning 8,000 square feet, the exhibition will be divided into three sections: “Joy of Collecting”, which features an impressive array of more than 500 sculptures (noticeably a work by Ju Ming), tableware, and objets d’art amassed by Chan over the years; “Joy of Creating”, which showcases a selection of Chan’s integrated media artworks, in addition to his first oil painting series; and “Joy of Curating”, which offers a re-staged glimpse of his private art space SALON 27 in a much more intimate approach, showing how art and design can be brought closer to our daily lives.
