Crime thriller "A Place Called Silence" leads Chinese mainland daily box office

BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Crime thriller "A Place Called Silence" topped the Chinese mainland box office chart with a revenue of around 67 million yuan (about 9.4 million U.S. dollars) on Friday, according to the China Movie Data Information Network.

Directed by Sam Quah, who also made the 2019 hit film "Sheep Without a Shepherd," the movie delves into the topic of campus bullying and is expected to be a highlight among this summer's box office lineup.

It was followed by domestic comedy "Welcome to My Side," which pocketed 14.84 million yuan on its first day of release.

Domestic drama "Moments We Shared" came in third with a daily earning of 11.12 million yuan on the day.

The total box office revenue on the Chinese mainland on Friday stood at 125.5 million yuan. ■
