Austrian Alpine skiers continued their strong showing at the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games, while Dutch speed skater Angel Daleman snatched her third gold.

GANGNEUNG, South Korea, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Austria demonstrated its Alpine skiing dominance with a gold medal in the mixed team parallel event at the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games here on Friday.

Maja Waroschitz and Florian Neumayer defeated Sweden in the mixed team parallel big final that wrapped up the Alpine skiing competition.

It was the European nation's second mixed team title in Winter Youth Olympic history, following their first gold in 2012.

With the victory, Waroschitz became a triple gold medalist after having won the women's Alpine combined and slalom titles.

Austrian Alpine skiers clinched two more silvers in the men's and women's Super-G events, along with the men's giant slalom bronze.

The Netherlands and Germany showed dominance in the speed skating mass start events that concluded the speed skating competition.

Dutch speed skater Angel Daleman snatched her third gold and fourth medal in the women's mass start.

The reigning junior world champion in mass start finished first, ahead of compatriot Jasmin Veenhuis, who claimed silver. The bronze medal went to China's Liu Yunqi, who claimed a mixed relay gold and a 1,500m race silver.

Daleman became the first female speed skater to clinch three golds at the Winter Youth Olympics after earning the women's 500m and 1,500m titles.

Germany's Finn Sonnekalb gained his third gold in the men's speed skating mass start after winning the 500m and 1,500m individual events.

The third gold made the German the second male speed skater to take three golds at the Winter Youth Olympics.

China's Pan Baoshuo added a mass start silver to his mixed relay gold and 1,500m silver in speed skating.

In freestyle skiing, the United States swept hosts South Korea in the big final of the mixed team dual moguls event that was first introduced in the Winter Youth Olympics.

The dual moguls bronze went to another U.S. team who overpowered Japan.

1,802 athletes aged 14 to 18 from 78 countries and regions are competing in the four cities of Gangneung, PyeongChang, Jeongseon and Hoengseong until February 1.

The Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics features seven sports, 15 disciplines and 81 events. ■
