Skier Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States set a new all-time World Cup win record of 88.
GENEVA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- American Mikaela Shiffrin concluded the final race of the women's FIS World Cup season in style, winning her 88th overall title after breaking Sweden's Ingemar Stenmark's record of 86 all-time World Cup wins a week ago.
Shiffrin, 28, won another giant slalom race in Andorra on Sunday to wrap up a record-breaking season.
She led from the first run and finished a nearly flawless second run to win the race in Soldeu, Andorra, by 0.06 seconds ahead of Norway's Thea Louise Stjernesund. Canada's Valerie Grenier was third.
Shiffrin broke another world record for the most women's World Cup giant slalom wins with 21, and became the first female skier to finish with 138 World Cup podiums in International Ski Federation (FIS) history.
With 2,206 points on the standings, Shiffrin won her fifth overall World Cup title and also secured Crystal Globes in slalom and giant slalom before this weekend's event. ■
