The golden tree is decorated with various Spring Festival elements including red lanterns. In Chinese culture, the colors of gold and red spread the message of good fortune and prosperity for everyone in the coming new year.

The Spring Festival, falling on Feb. 10 to kick off the Year of the Dragon, has been officially listed as a UN Floating Holiday in the UN Calendar of Conferences and Meetings starting in 2024.
