Section of expressway redesigned to save ancient trees in Hubei, China

A section of the Baoshen (Baokang-Shennongjia) Expressway has been redesigned to save two ancient trees in Baokang County of central China's Hubei Province.

The two trees, 800 years old and 700 years old, are national first-class ancient trees.

Adjusting the construction route to bypass the trees costs nearly 10 million yuan (1.55 million U.S. dollars).

The Baoshen Expressway is open to traffic.
