Swatch has unveiled its latest horological marvel, the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission to the Super Blue Moonphase. This timepiece celebrates both the joyous spirit of summer and the first supermoon of the year on August 19.
The limited-edition watch is available only from August 1 to 19 and showcases Swatch’s innovative approach to watchmaking. The piece features a unique multi-shade blue moon phase with UV ink, set against a dark celestial background at the 2 o'clock subdial. This feature also pays homage to the celestial event that it is celebrating.
A feast for the eyes, the watch’s design boasts a panda dial with a silver-opaline face and contrasting blue subdials. The Bioceramic bezel showcases a blue pulsometer scale with white markers, a departure from the tachymeter function found on other models in the collection. This pulsometer allows wearers to measure their heart rate without calculations, a nod to the watch's sporty yet sophisticated character.
In line with Swatch’s commitment to innovative and sustainable manufacturing processes, the watch is crafted from Swatch's patented Bioceramic material, a blend of two-thirds ceramic and one-third bio-sourced materials from castor oil.
The Mission to the Super Blue Moonphase incorporates several features reminiscent of Omega’s legendary Speedmaster Moonwatch, including an asymmetrical case and distinctive subdials. The case back bears the mission statement, while the Omega x Swatch logos adorn the dial and crown. A blue velcro strap completes the space-inspired aesthetic.
