LHASA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- An observation and research station under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has been working for nearly two decades on the north slope of Mt. Qomolangma, the world's highest peak.
Established in 2005, the station, starting from a tent, has become a comprehensive observation station with advanced instruments.
And it's also the base camp for researchers to study the atmosphere and ecology in the Mt. Qomolangma region.
The station aims to serve as a platform to understand weather and climate in East Asia, or even the globe as a whole.
The station has been a witness to the 18-year-long ardor of scientists exploring the unknown.
And now it has also served as an educational base. It has opened a window for local students to know more about science and planted the seeds of science in their hearts.
