Grande Interior Design founder, Maggy Cheung, led her talented team of designers on the mission of creating a Hung Hom residence that artfully captured the distinctive essence of an Indian family living in Hong Kong.

During the space planning process, Maggy prioritised accommodating the family’s cultural and religious practices into the design. She said, "The guests and I decided to adopt a 'Light European' style as the theme, incorporating natural materials and other design elements to create a warm and inviting home where family and friends can gather."

Considering the religious practices of the homeowner, Maggy skillfully transformed the storage room near the entrance into a guest bedroom that incorporates an area specifically designed for Indian religious ceremonies. Adhering to the principles of Feng Shui, a transparent glass screen was added to create a division between the entrance and the dining room, enhancing privacy and preventing a direct view of the entire living room upon entering. Additionally, the entrance to the guest bathroom conveniently connects to the guest bedroom, serving as both a dedicated bathroom for visitors and an en suite bathroom for the guest room.

The guest suite is thoughtfully outfitted with a wall niche, ingeniously designed to accommodate religious ceremonies for the homeowner and their family.

This family places great importance on family life and considers it to be at the core of their values. They’re always throwing get-togethers with loved ones and friends, so naturally, the living room assumes a prominent role as the heart of the home. Within this vibrant space, a spacious and stylish bar area takes prominence. This allows the homeowner to effortlessly prepare meals while engaging in social interactions with guests. Furthermore, the inclusion of the bar area adds a versatile element to the overall utilisation of the space, enhancing its functionality.

"In terms of design aesthetics, there’s nothing that represents European aesthetics more than intricate floral patterns on the walls and cabinets,” Maggy pointed out, “To create a lighter, more contemporary vibe, we went with this beautiful neutral light grey colour to match the modern, stylish pendant lights.”

On one side of the living room is a passage that grants access to the master suite. The room's interior is impressively spacious, achieved by merging three original bedrooms. Within this expansive area, you'll find the sleeping section, a study, a bathroom complete with a toilet, and a convenient walk-in closet. With its open design and double-sided cabinets embellished with intricate floral motifs, this space combines both beauty and functionality, offering abundant storage options.

The master suite carries on the design aesthetic of the living room, incorporating details such as white coloured plush fabric for the bed head, sleek metal handles and luxurious stone materials that enhance the elegant atmosphere.

As for the two daughters' rooms, each possesses its unique qualities. The elder daughter's room exudes a cosy ambiance with its light wooden hues, neutral tones that are minimalistic and comfortable.

In the youngest daughter's room, you'll find a more feminine bed frame that’s adorned with intricate European-style floral patterns. These delicate details lend an air of elegance, creating a space that is both refined and charming.
