2022 marks the 25th anniversary of Steve Leung Design Group and the firm debuted in the just finished Salone del Mobile a new series of furniture in collaboration with Italian brands Visionnaire, Lema and Lualdi. Here’re the highlights!
1. Eureka Wardrobe Vanity for Lema
The Eureka wardrobe vanity echoes Leung and Lema’s shared philosophy of breaking the status quo, offering a better living experience by reinventing the traditional notion of wardrobe. As suggested by the name itself, “Eureka” – literally meaning “I have found (it)!” in Ancient Greek – the wardrobe “is not only a storage but a transformable object that evolves and adapts to become an integral part of our life,” according to Leung.
2. Nature’s Jewel Box 2022 Furniture Collection
Nature’s Jewel Box 2022 Furniture Collection sees Leung joining forces with Visionnaire for the fifth time. Inspired by the core brand DNA of nature and sustainability, Steve iterates a rather un-seen side of nature, celebrating trees’ incredible adaptability to thrive and grow stronger despite the at-times harsh weather conditions.
3. Ying Door Collection for Lualdi
Lualdi, a legendary Italian brand for interior doors and boiserie, first started working with Leung on the Ying door collection in 2020 and it was finally unveiled in this year’s Salone del Mobile. The collection melds oriental tradition and western sensibility, lending timeless elegance and understated luxury to interior doors. The inspiration is rooted in sǔn mǎo (榫卯) – a traditional Chinese technique of creating enduring and elegant joinery.
