The “world’s largest superyacht” will be home to 118 private apartments

Anyone who’s ever chartered a luxury yacht knows just how exquisite of an experience it can be—but yacht ownership is a whole different level. Between maintenance and crew management, full time yacht owners sacrifice a lot for a few months on the water.

The future 925-foot ‘Njord’ superyacht (named after the god of the seas and winds of Norse mythology) by Ocean Residences may be the solution for sun and sea lovers who aren’t ready to commit to the hurdles that come with owning an entire yacht.

“Njord is home to a discerning community of individuals, sharing a passion for travel, adventure and discovery,” Ocean Residences said in a statement. “The world's largest private yacht and one of the most exclusive clubs in the world.”

The private yacht will be home to 118 private apartment units, ranging from two to six bedrooms, all with sea views and private terraces. The goal, according to Ocean Residences, is to create a community that fosters “personal enrichment beyond luxury.”

The ship will be equipped to undertake scientific and oceanographic research everywhere it travels and all ocean residents will be “united in supporting charities, missions and pressing causes.” Green Ship Technology will also be adopted on all propulsion and power generation systems and only electric power will be used when sailing through the world’s particularly sensitive waters.

That being said, the superyacht has no shortage of dazzling amenities you’d expect from a ship of this prestige. Between beach clubs, helicopters with hangars, flat-bottom RIBs for Antarctica and limousine tenders for the Mediterranean, ocean residents will cruise in luxury around the globe.

The ship will also include lecture and workshop programmes, local culinary experts, including Michelin-starred chefs, and cultural programmes that vary from port to port as well. Further information and pricing can be found at my-njord.com.
