BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) -- China's confidence and determination to join hands with other countries in advancing the Belt and Road remain unchanged despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Sunday.
Wang made the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the annual national legislative session.
The impact of COVID-19 on Belt and Road cooperation is temporary and limited, and the cooperation will be strengthened following the pandemic, he said.
Belt and Road cooperation is built on its real benefits to the people in partner countries, and it is driven by a strong and shared commitment to common development, Wang said.
"The future of the Belt and Road lies in expanding the cooperation to new areas," Wang said.
China will continue to follow the principle of achieving shared growth through consultation and collaboration, and support open, green and clean development, Wang said.
"By aiming for high-standard, people-centered and sustainable progress, we will make the Belt and Road a model of development, cooperation and health for all involved," he said. ■
