- ‘I imagine he’s had a heavy cut, to be honest,’ McGregor says, after both weigh in at 170 pounds
- ‘I’m fresh and I’m coming in to take him out and that’s it’
Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone both weighed in at 170 pounds on the dot ahead of their UFC 246 main event. But "The Notorious" thinks "Cowboy" is looking drained and fatigued.
Cerrone, who like McGregor normally competes at lightweight, had said during fight week that he was enjoying not having to cut weight for Saturday night's welterweight clash at the T-Mobile Arena.
But the American looked a lot leaner than the Irishman on stage at the Park Theatre for Friday night's ceremonial weigh-in ceremony.
"He's a little fatigued, I imagine," McGregor told a media scrum backstage afterwards. "He's had a bit of a cut. I imagine he's a had a heavy cut, to be honest.
"He looks a bit drained. But I'm fresh and I'm coming in. I'm coming in to take him out and that's it."
Former featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor looked significantly bulkier than Cerrone, and possibly in the best shape of his career.
"The crowd is out in force. Very, very pleased with it so I had to get down to me jocks (underpants), the people queued up to see me in me jocks," he added.
"I was almost gonna tell Donald to take his pants and his shoes off, we gotta show our shape, the fruits of our labour.
"I worked very hard. It's not easy to prepare for a bout in Ireland and over Christmas also, a lot of tough mornings and evenings. I wanna get out and show it here in Las Vegas now I'm here to fight."
McGregor said no pounds had to come off on Friday morning, and that he was able to enjoy a nice breakfast on weigh-in morning, for once.
"It was pretty good to wake up, have some water, eat some food and be on the button (exactly 170 pounds)," he said.
"I wanted to be on the button, so happy days. Nothing heavy, just light, light protein and some fluid. Now i'll just rest, chill.
"I'm debating getting a hair cut. I know the fans are saying get the skin fade, get the shave. It's a tough one, it's hard to grow the hair like this. I had to put lot of work into it, so I don't know what to do.
"I may just get a trim and the beard shaved, and just slick it back like this and then in between rounds " if we even go rounds " just slick it back myself, because it will kinda lose shape.
"That's my thinking, but I'm just gonna chill and enjoy the fight, so happy f****** days."
