Jaeger-LeCoultre and Vacheron Constantin launch new timepieces while Chopard and IWC Schaffhausen inspire celebrities

We all want to know which brands our favourite celebrities are wearing, and we now know the watch Ryan Reynolds, star of Deadpool and Green Lantern, is sporting. The Canadian actor was recently seen at a private screening of his latest film, 6 Underground, with a LUC GMT One.
First unveiled in 2016, Reynolds’ rose gold version comes with a brown, satin-finished dial. Its automatic and chronometer-certified movement can be admired through the transparent back of the watch’s 42mm compressor-style case. Reynolds has good taste.
2/4 Jaeger-LeCoultre
There’s something otherworldly about Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Atmos clocks. The watchmaker’s latest edition, Atmos Transparente, is just as spectacular as its predecessors. Thanks to a perpetual movement first conceptualised in 1928, the Atmos has no external power source, and doesn’t need to be wound by hand.
Instead, it gets its power from changes in atmospheric temperature–hence its name. This year’s edition is especially elegant because of its art deco design that’s fully viewable through a case of anti-reflective glass.

3/4 Vacheron Constantin
Vacheron Constantin’s Overseas Dual Time Prototype was created in collaboration with photographer and explorer Cory Richards for his third attempt at climbing Mount Everest. Made from titanium with tantalum reinforcements—a first for the watchmaker—it was recently sold by Phillips for over US$100,000. Profits were donated to the National Geographic Society, which works to push the boundaries of exploration and find sustainable solutions for environmental crises. Here’s to the future.

4/4 IWC Schaffhausen
Award-winning board shaper Hayden Cox has revealed that he was inspired to set up his own sustainable business practices at his company, Haydenshapes, following an IWC Schaffhausen manufacture visit. “I saw how all the raw materials, which are offcuts from the production process, are melted back down and used for new watches.”
The Australian is now renowned for upcycling waste that is typically thrown away into surfboard components— and has provided evidence of IWC’s commitment to bring sustainability to the world of watchmaking.
