Joseph Schooling and his Singapore teammates added another gold in the 4x100m medley at the Southeast Asian Games on Monday night but missed out on setting a new event record.
The quartet finished in 3.38:63 with Olympic champion Schooling on the third leg swimming butterfly, when the second place Philippines team saw their medal hopes dashed after one of their swimmers had to stop because of waterlogged goggles coming off. Thailand were also disqualified in the race.
That gold in the final event of the swimming saw Singapore finish with 23 golds in the Games' pool, surpassing their target of 18. Five more were added on this last day of action, narrowly missing out on all six on offer on the night.
Quah Zheng Wen won the men's 200m butterfly while his sisters Quah Ting Wen and Quah Jing Wen took first and second in the women's 100m butterfly. The siblings won 16 golds between them at this Games.

Schooling, who won golds in four of his six events only losing to Singapore teammates, also received criticism for his weight at the Games. He has vowed to be in shape for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games where he defends his Rio win.
