Russian media outlet Sputnik reported that Moscow has been expressing concerns over a U.S.-built lab in Georgia.
The lab, Richard G. Lugar Center for Public Health Research, is allegedly being used by the U.S. to research dangerous infectious diseases so close to the Russian border, according to Sputnik.
Moscow has concerned about the Pentagon's use of the lab to research ways to deliver and unleash biological weapons agents in breach of international accords.
Russian specialists plan to visit the lab. Georgia says it is ready to host Russian experts, adding that the specialists should be a part of a wider delegation within the convention on the prohibition of biological weapons.
