The limited edition “XX” teapot will be shipping out as of next month.

After previous collaborations, including the successful regional installations “Passing Through,” “Clean Slate,” and “KAWS:BFF” in Hong Kong, China, and Thailand, Brian Donnelly, who has worked under the name KAWS for over twenty years, has once again partnered with long time collaborator AllRightsReserved.

While a collaboration between the Hong Kong-based creative studio and American artist and designer is no longer a novel concept, their latest collaboration does come as a bit of a surprise: a hyper limited edition monogram “XX” teapot

Given that their last collaboration was a series of large-scale KAWS:HOLIDAY installations, which ended with at the base of Mount Fuji earlier last year, a personalised concept like a ceramic teapot comes as a striking polarity compared to the 40-meter-long installations that made their way through Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Japan last summer.

The limited edition teapot features the infamous KAWS monogrammed “XX” motif, which repeats up and down the sides and top of the teapot with miniature “XX” gloved hands speckled within the monogrammed pattern. In terms of practicality, the all-white teapot is totally functional, featuring a heat-friendly ceramic and 800ml capacity.

“Sometimes I create art in the moment and it feels like the greatest thing I have ever done, and then when I look back and think it wasn’t that important,” Donnelly told Esquire Singapore in a previous statement. “And then it’s when things come out of the blue or on a whim that they resonate and feel so much deeper.”

Those looking to purchase the KAWS “XX” monogram teapot will have to act fast—only 1,000 examples will be available for sale, each of which coming with a certificated NFC chip of authenticity.

The teapot will become available on AllRightsReserved’s Ding Dong Takuhaibin website starting on May 28 at 10 a.m. HKT for HK$2,980. Shipping will begin as early as June.
