Jorge Masvidal has said UFC president Dana White will not let him face Conor McGregor inside the Octagon.

In an appearance on ESPN's Get Up on Thursday, "Gamebred" said White was worried that Masvidal would seriously injure "The Notorious".

Former featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor looks set for a return at the end of 2019, or early 2020, but don't count on him challenging Masvidal for the "BMF" title belt if Masvidal beats Nate Diaz.

"That fight, the president deemed it not good because they don't want, like, a murder charge on us, so they're not going to allow that to happen," the Cuban-American told ESPN.

"The president himself already said it, so I mean, I don't want to go to jail for killing nobody. That's not what I want to do. I'm here to compete and beat people up, you know?

"The president said that we can't compete because I'm too much, man. So that can't happen. We're different spectrums. He's not going to allow that to happen."

Ben Askren says Jorge Masvidal still owes him a thank you

Masvidal was in New York on Thursday night for a UFC 244 press conference alongside Diaz, ahead of their main event bout at Madison Square Garden on November 2.

The 34-year-old is coming off stunning knockout victories against Darren Till and Ben Askren, whom he KO'd in five seconds with a flying knee at UFC 239.

"Masvidal's too big for him, man. I think Masvidal's too big, Conor disagrees," White said in July. "So, Conor was not happy that I said Masvidal was too big for him."
