In Germany, top Chinese diplomat elaborates on China's anti-virus efforts

BEIJING, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- During his stay in Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference (MSC), Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has widely briefed the international community on the achievements of the Chinese people in the fight against the novel coronavirus epidemic.

It is only a matter of time before the battle is finally won, said the top Chinese diplomat.

MUNICH -- "I believe that after the epidemic, the Chinese economy will stride forward on a healthier and more sustainable track," said Wang in a speech at MSC.

"The Chinese people will become more resolute to build a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, eradicate the absolute poverty and achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," he added.

BERLIN -- "We are first protecting the health of the Chinese people, and at the same time trying to stop the epidemic from spreading on a global scale, thus contributing to global public health security," said Wang during his meeting in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

BERLIN -- Given that its economy has strong internal driving forces,China will overcome any temporary difficulty and strive to reach its economic and social goals set for 2020, said Wang when co-chairing the fifth round of China-Germany strategic dialogue on diplomacy and security with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.

MUNICH -- Panic is more fearful than the virus, said Wang during his meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

China appreciates Germany's support and help, as well as its objective and calm attitude, he added.

MUNICH -- Virus is a common enemy of mankind and the international community should join hands to deal with it, said Wang while meeting with Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States Paul Gallagher.

China, a big country with a civilization of 5,000 years, has experienced various trials and tribulations in history, he added.

MUNICH -- China will never slack off and will continue to spare no effort to treat the patients, while continuing to cooperate with the international community to achieve an early and eventual victory in the anti-epidemic battle, said Wang when meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne.
