For the first time ever, the iconic house in Verona will be open for guests.

Right in time for Valentine’s Day, Airbnb has announced that Juliet’s House will be welcoming one lucky modern day Romeo and Juliet.

The medieval house in charming Verona features the well-known Juliet balcony, made famous for its association with the Shakespearian heroine’s declaration of love to her Romeo.

“Juliet’s House is the most important museum in the city of Verona, attracting millions of visitors every year,” Federico Sboarina, mayor of Verona, said in a statement. “Partnering with Airbnb brings the widely known Shakespearian myth of Romeo and Juliet to life in a way never before offered. We are excited to promote our cultural heritage, share traditions that were previously safeguarded, and bring international visibility to the city of Verona.”

Although Shakespeare had never specified exactly where Juliet lived, the home, known today as Casa Giulietta, is widely believed to be his love struck heroine’s true home and the 13th-century building, which operates as a museum, has since become a symbol of love and a place of romantic pilgrimage.

“This stay will give one couple the unique chance to celebrate their love in what is possibly the most romantic home in the history of literature,” Giacomo Trovato, general manager for Italy Airbnb, said in a statement.

During the stay, the couple will enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner cooked by two-Michelin-star chef Giancarlo Perbellini, unprecedented access to Juliet’s medieval-themed bedroom, which features the original bed from Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet, and a personal butler.

The romantic casa is open for just one night and will be given to the lucky couple who pen the most compelling letter to Juliet, sharing their own love story and explaining why they and their partner would be the best guests of honour. Entries can be submitted at airbnb.com/juliet until 11:59 p.m. EST on 2nd February, 2020.
