As she gears up for the 2020 Summer Olympic in Tokyo next summer, Hong Kong's swimming darling Siobhan Haughey appears to be peaking at the right moment.

Haughey broke two Hong Kong records on Saturday in Maryland during an International Swimming League meet, finishing third in the 50 metres breaststroke with a time of 29.88 seconds, and she also won the 200 metres freestyle in 1:59.99 seconds. Both swims were also Asian records.

The 200 metres is Haughey's best event and one she could possibly medal in next summer in Tokyo. She is currently competing for D.C. Trident along with US swimming superstar Katie Ledecky.

Haughey broke records she actually set earlier in the ISL season this autumn, and Swim Swam, an online swimming blog, noted that the Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association had yet to update her records even from her earlier times.

Haughey recently graduated from the University of Michigan and looks to be one of Hong Kong's best Olympic Games hopes, along with track cyclist Sarah Lee Wai-sze, to grab a medal next summer.

The Hong Kong native grew up swimming at the South China Athletic Association in Happy Valley.
