Double gold for China's Gu at FIS World Cup in Calgary

China's Eileen Gu grabbed women's slopestyle gold at the FIS World Cup tour in Calgary, one day after the 16-year-old won the women's halfpipe skiing event.

VANCOUVER, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- China's Eileen Gu took the women's slopestyle gold at the FIS World Cup tour here on Saturday, one day after the 16-year-old won the women's halfpipe skiing event.

Gu's score of 89.18 was enough to complete a World Cup sweep in Calgary. An expert in halfpipe, slopestyle and big air - having won medals in all three events at the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games - Gu also clinched her first halfpipe World Cup title with a score of 94.00 after a perfect display on Friday night.

Swiss Mathilde Gremaud took silver with a score of 87.13, while Canada's Megan Oldham ranked third with 80.70 points.

Oldham had led the standings after the first run, but Gu and Gremaud surpassed the 18-year-old on their second runs down the course at Canada Olympic Park.

In the men's competition, Swiss skier Andri Ragettli earned 88.73 points on his second run to take the gold. Americans Colby Stevenson and Nicholas Goepper took second and third respectively with scores of 88.60 and 86.36.  ■
