衣物是新或舊，同樣存有價值。可持續時尚的需求不斷增長，二手衣服、交換衣櫥變得流行，人們願意捐贈自己不要的衣服，而非直接丟掉，又甚至願意在別人捐贈的衣櫥裡尋找好物。近日我看關於倫敦時裝周的報導，瞥見一宗有關時尚Swap Shop（以物易物店）的新聞，年輕設計師Patrick McDowell以Swap Shop形式，探討著如何在享受時尚同時，減低碳足印和對環境的影響。他展示了一名為“curated, evolving”（精心策劃，不斷發展）的系列，其系列全由捐贈的物品製成，還原甚至強化那些了舊衣物的價值。

至於Swap Shop活動另一發起人，來自可持續發展諮詢公司Global Fashion Exchange的創辨人Patrick Duffy表示，每年業界製造的服裝達1,500億件，單在英國，運往垃圾堆填區的數量有30萬噸，而數字每年都在增長。舊衣物一直環境帶來影響，要解決問題，除了要令人們謹慎消費以外，更要強調舊衣物仍有的價值－－捐贈衣物便是當今的出路。

在本港，除了那些耳熟能詳的社福機構，仍有不少透過回收衣物、售賣捐贈的二手服飾的平台和機構，如環保時裝店Hula、以寄賣模式營運的環保社企Green Ladies和共享衣櫥平台Wardrobista等，一直致力維持舊衣物的價值，鼓勵人們捐贈舊衣物，同時希望打破人們以往「穿舊衣是負面」的傳統思想。
