Conor McGregor hinted he wanted to fight in Dublin on December 14. If he does, it will not be in a UFC Octagon.

In a Q&A with fans on social media, UFC president Dana White shot down any notion of the Irishman fighting in his home city.

Instead, White gave an indication of when he expected the former featherweight and lightweight champion to be back in action.

"I'm sure you saw his tweet. Conor wants to fight on December 14 in Dublin, but we have a fight in Vegas," White said, after a fan asked when "The Notorious" was going to fight again.

"So if he doesn't fight on that card, he will fight early next year," White added.

UFC 245 in Las Vegas is already looking stacked, with Amanda Nunes defending her bantamweight title against Germaine de Randamie.

Light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has also hinted he could fight again, while White said the UFC was looking to book three title fights.

Do not expect that to be McGregor getting his rematch against lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, however.

It's more likely to be a welterweight clash between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington, provided negotiations go smoother than the first round of talks, which saw the fight passed over for Madison Square Garden in favour of Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal.
