TAIPEI, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The total number of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Taiwan has increased by 10 to 373, the island's epidemic monitoring agency said Monday.

Nine of the new patients, five men and four women, were believed to have contracted the virus during their trips overseas, while one was believed to be infected locally, the agency said in a press release.

The local case, a four-year-old boy, was believed to be infected by his two relatives who tested positive of the virus earlier, the statement said.

Among the island's confirmed COVID-19 cases, 321 were imported. A total of 57 confirmed patients have recovered, and five died.

Since the island reported a surging number of travelers during the four-day tomb-sweeping holiday from April 2 to 5, the agency urged the public to take necessary precautions such as staying away from public spaces and wearing face masks when they return from holiday, particularly those who had been to crowded locations such as popular resorts.  ■
