JAKARTA, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, Indonesia is ramping up production of protective kits. Workers from home workshops and students with disability join the effort to make protective suits and face masks for paramedics to fight the pandemic.

As of Tuesday, the death toll of the COVID-19 in the country has climbed to 221, the highest in Southeast Asia, and the number of confirmed cases jumped to 2,738. Indonesian Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto has approved the proposal of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan on large-scale social distancing to prevent further spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
