HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO "THE DINNER PARTY" on the 40th  Anniversary of its premiere at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Since then, it's been seen by over one million viewers during its worldwide tour and now constitutes 20% of the audience at the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum, where it has been permanently housed since 2010. I am indebted to "The Dinner Party" for teaching me the power of art. #JudyChicago #Salon94 #JessicaSilvermanGallery #BrooklynMuseum #TheDinnerParty #SacklerCenter #FeministArt #40thAnniversary #SFMoMA #ThroughtheFlower #RightoutofHistory #JohannaDemetrakas

Great text by Jill Soloway (@jillsoloway) in the Time 100 listing. "Her moment is finally here again, and everyone can see she is our legacy, our great, our modern Frida, the should-have-been Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol or whatever men got credited with inventing everything. She deserves every ounce of this brand-new but totally necessary showing of attention, resources, and tons and tons of love."

The final and most dimensional plate at #TheDinnerParty belongs to the only woman who was still alive when her table setting was completed, Georgia O’Keeffe. The plate representing O’Keeffe lifts itself up from the table, suggesting the increased freedom of expression possible for O’Keeffe, her female contemporaries, and the women following in her footsteps. To Chicago, The Dinner Party is a challenge to continue to change the way history is written and women are represented— a model for future work. #dinnerpartyroots

In celebration of the anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment, which prohibited states from denying the vote on the basis of sex, @usnatarchives is using the hashtag #19ForThe19th to showcase inspirational women. This week features #WomenInTheArts, so of course we couldn't pass it up! 🎨 @judy.chicago's "The Dinner Party" (1974-1979) celebrates women's history through place settings designed for 39 important women. The monumental, collaborative project incorporates traditional women’s crafts such as embroidery, needlepoint, and ceramics. The work, created by many women artists, also celebrates women artists and activists that fought for women's suffrage. 🍽 You can see “The Dinner Party” on view at @brooklynmuseum. 📷: the Judy Chicago Visual Archive

(What if women ruled the world?’)
