BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) -- History should be written with facts and truth, and should not be misled and polluted by lies, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Sunday.
Wang made the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the annual national legislative session.
"On the issue of the source of the virus, the difference between China and some U.S. politicians is the distance between truth and lies, and the contrast between science and prejudice," he said.
Identifying the source of the virus is a serious and complex issue of science, which should be studied and explored by scientists and medical experts, according to Wang.
Some politicians in the United States, however, rushed to attach a label to the virus, politicize the tracing of its source and stigmatize China, said Wang, adding that they have overestimated their rumor-mongering ability and underestimated others' ability to tell right from wrong.
The global narrative about COVID-19 should feature conscience and reason to leave behind an objective and authentic part of the humanity's collective memory, he said. ■
