From vegetarian dim sum to plant-based burgers, South Indian specialities and much more, we're listing where to find the best vegan and vegetarian food in Hong Kong

Over the past few years, the trend towards eating less meat and consuming a plant-based diet has steadily increased, with more and more restaurants in Hong Kong opening to meet this demand. Beyond sad salads and raw foods, vegetarian and vegan diets are flavoursome, colourful and varied – as is evident in the wide range of eateries to choose form within Hong Kong.

From vegetarian dim sum to plant-based burgers, South Indian specialities and much more, whether you follow a strict diet, or are just looking to cut down your meat consumption, there's plenty on offer to keep you satisfied. Here, we list the best vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Hong Kong in our ultimate guide:

Kind Kitchen by Green Common

View this post on Instagram

100% plant-based grocery store and deli chain Green Common is best known for introducing the Beyond Burger to Hong Kong back in 2017, and continues to offer vegan diners ample offerings to eat in and take away. Set up by David Yeung (the founder of the social enterprise Green Monday), Green Common continues to do their part in reversing our environmental impact and raise awareness of our landscape.

Operated by Green Monday, Kind Kitchen is a casual cafe that offers vegan dishes from a diverse set of cuisines. Along with serving Beyond Meat burgers, hotdogs and more, Kind Kitchen makes use of other popular plant-based products in creative dishes such as omnipork and black truffle gyoza and the new "Omni K Ramen".

Tatler recommends: For a plant-based breakfast, don't miss the Beyond Sausage breakfast muffin. We also love the Omni spicy dumplings.

Isoya

Serving sophisticated Buddhist-Japanese cuisine, Isoya's food is always beautifully presented—but it's far from being style-over-substance. The vegan sushi is delicately made with ingredients such as lotus roots and fried cherry blossoms, and every detail is executed to the highest level with fresh ingredients from Japan, providing a unique, yet authentic Japanese experience with a plant-based twist.

The lunch set, with its selection of appetisers (ranging from spinach with sesame sauce to natto mixed with okra) and fulfilling mains such as the popular lime somen is consistently excellent, and finishes with cream-filled mochi.
