More than half of the 505 COVID-19 infections involved food sales, with potential exposure to the virus reported at 85 grocery stores, liquor stores and restaurants.
OTTAWA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- A total of 505 COVID-19 cases were confirmed since July 4 in connection with public venues in 61 cities across seven provinces in Canada, according to Canadian Project Pandemic on Monday.
The public venues included stores, bars, restaurants, daycares and schools after more businesses reopened and restrictions were eased.
The data by the project showed that at least 148 different stores, restaurants, bars, schools, daycares, and other public spaces had issued warnings about potential exposure to the virus.

There were also at least eight reports of infections and exposures at day camps, eight at schools and daycares, and three at parks and pools.
The project said that the numbers were not a comprehensive dataset. It is likely that there might have been more exposure warnings and subsequent infections than those reported.
Project Pandemic is a collaborative mapping effort led by the Institute for Investigative Journalism at Montreal's Concordia University.
There have been 119,451 cases of COVID-19 in Canada, including 8,981 deaths. Labs across Canada have tested 4,447,810 people for COVID-19 to date. Over the past week, an average of 48,360 people was tested daily, with one percent testing positive and approximately 400 cases on average were reported daily from across the country, according to Public Health Agency of Canada on Monday. ■
